Constantan

Constantan is a nickel alloy.

 

Properties and Appearance

A lustrous white or gray metal, Constantan is comprised of 55% copper and 45% nickel. Often paired with iron, copper, and Chromel® in type J, T, and E thermocouples, it belongs in the thermocouple alloys group

Constantan is the oldest and most widely used strain gauge alloy. It shows a constant resistivity rate over an extensive range of temperatures and has some corrosion resistance properties.

Constantan is used in medical and marine projects and the aerospace, power generation, and oil and gas industries.
