Alumel® Properties and Appearance
Alumel® is dull gray nickel, aluminum, manganese, and silicon metal alloy. It is magnetic and has good electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity. This alloy consists of approximately nickel (95%), manganese (2%), aluminum (2%), and silicon (1%).
It is ideal for use in thermocouples and as thermocouple extension wire. When combined with Chromel®, Alumel® is the negative leg of ANSI Type K thermocouples and can be used in measuring temperature conditions below 1100°C.
Alumel® is valuable to the aerospace, medical, and nuclear industries, among many others.
