Nickel 200 Supplier

Nickel 200

Nickel 200 is a commercially pure, versatile alloy. It combines good mechanical properties, toughness and good ductility with high thermal, electrical conductivity, and resistance to corrosive environments particularly caustic alkalis at a wide range of temperatures and concentrations.

Properties

Resistance to High Temperatures: Nickel 200 maintains its mechanical properties and resists oxidation at high temperatures, though it is not as heat-resistant as nickel-based superalloys.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Nickel 200 is highly resistant to corrosion in various environments, particularly in alkaline and neutral salt solutions. It performs well in both oxidizing and reducing conditions.
  • Ductility: It exhibits excellent ductility, making it easy to form, fabricate, and weld.
  • Magnetic Properties: Nickel 200 is ferromagnetic at room temperature, making it useful in applications requiring magnetic properties.
  • Electrical and Thermal Conductivity: It has good electrical and thermal conductivity, which makes it suitable for electrical and thermal management applications.
  • Low Gas Content: The material has a low gas content, which contributes to its purity and enhances its performance in high-temperature and high-vacuum applications.

Other names for Nickel 200 are Ni-200, Nickel 99.2 and UNS N02200. For more properties detail see the Nickel 200 datasheet

Applications & Uses

Nickel 200 Alloy is used in environments where corrosion resistance, ductility, and reliable performance at high temperatures are required. Compared with nickel alloys, commercially pure nickel offers high electrical and thermal conductivity. Here are some examples of how Nickel 200 is used:

  • Heat Exchangers: Due to its excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to high-temperature oxidation, Nickel 200 is used in heat exchangers, particularly in corrosive environments.
  • Electrical and Electronics: It is used in electrical components, lead wires, battery components, and electronic connectors due to its high electrical conductivity.
Aerospace and Defense: Its good mechanical properties at both high and low temperatures make it suitable for aerospace components, including parts of rocket engines and other high-temperature applications.
  • Chemical Processing: Nickel 200 is widely used in the chemical and petrochemical industries due to its resistance to corrosion, especially in handling caustic alkalis and other aggressive chemicals.
  • Marine and Offshore Applications: Nickel 200’s corrosion resistance makes it suitable for marine environments, including the construction of ship components and offshore platforms.
  • Plating and Coatings: It is often used as an undercoating in electroplating due to its excellent adhesion and resistance to corrosion.
  • Hydrogenation Catalysts: Nickel 200 is used in the production of catalysts for hydrogenation processes due to its chemical stability.
  • Food Processing: Nickel 200 is employed in the food processing industry, particularly in the handling of foods and liquids, as it is resistant to corrosion in various food products.
