Titanium CP Grades 1 & 2 Properties and Appearance
Both Titanium CP Grades 1 and 2 are types of commercially pure Titanium alloys that are widely used in manufacturing industries. These Commercially Pure (CP) Titanium alloys are available in four grades (Grades 1 to 4) based on their ductility, corrosion resistance, and strength. Generally, they have an appearance of a dull, dark gray metal. They are part of the corrosion resistant group.
Titanium CP Grade 1 is the most ductile and the softest among the commercially pure Titanium alloys. In addition, it exhibits the most outstanding formability and the highest corrosion resistance. It has high toughness and due to these properties and qualities, Titanium CP Grade 1 is the choice for all applications where formability is needed.
Titanium CP Grade 2 is the most widely used among Commercially Pure (CP) Titanium. It has the same qualities and properties as the Titanium CP Grade 1 alloy but is more robust. However, both are equal in terms of corrosion resistance. The Titanium CP Grade 2 is relatively comparable in terms of strength, formability, weldability, and ductility.
Since Titanium CP Grade 2 alloy has a lower density compared to the four grades, it makes it very good at creating lightweight objects and materials. Its corrosion and strength properties also make it useful in the marine and chemical processing industries. Both grades offer superb resistance to marine and seawater corrosion.
